Has anyone else noticed how crazy things have gotten lately??
I just heard that there was an earthquake in LA... not strong enough to mess anything up, just strong enough to scare everyone.
No earthquakes here, thankfully!
It's good to hear that everyone is doing well :) I talked to Lauren briefly earlier today, but had to run and talk to one of the big bosses and couldn't stay longer. I'm very excited to hear that you're enjoying your job!! :D That's really great! Britty, it sounds like you're liking your new job too... I'm jealous you got to be on the river all day that one day. I wish my job would require me to do super fun things like that! Kate, I'm so bummed you were in Raleigh and I couldn't see you :( Even if for a short time! I hope the trip to Vermont was good, though! Let us know all the delicious details.
Things are going well here... progressing as per the norm. I went to the orthopedist today and he told me that I had one more month of PT before he'd give me the "all clear." I was really hoping to get that today, so I guess I have to be a "good patient" for another month or so. My physical therapist thinks I'm good to go, since I was so far ahead when I started. I've begun weight work and only go back to him long enough to get my last set of exercises in August. I'm excited for that!
Work is good too! I got a really great review at my last "check in" meeting with Shelley (our CEO). I'm being pulled in to a lot more strategic work, so I'm really looking forward to all of the new responsibilities and things coming this way. (Hopefully something even better at my yearly review in November!)
Other than that, there really isn't a lot going on. I'm living in a perpetual poor state, it seems. Every month I get paid, I pay bills then starve for 3 weeks. My surgery bills are flowing in pretty steadily now, which may be the cause of me not coming to Wilmington in August. I'll let you ladies know for sure, but I just got another whopping bill and am working on a payment plan for them! I'm very excited for New York, though! My Mom said she'd give me part of the trip for my birthday :) We need to plan soon!
I should go, since I'm on company time, but I just wanted to say hello and give you lovelies a quick update. As always, I miss you like a fat kid who misses the cupcake he just ate and can't wait to see you all soon!!
I LOVE YOU!

The Banking Life
Well, I've recently completed my first week of work at Carolina First Bank. There's not a whole lot to report. I couldn't really do anything because I have gone to training yet, so I really just spent my time reading the teller training manual and shadowed the other tellers as they performed transactions. A little boring, but I'll get paid for it, so that's good. Everyone is really nice. All three of us main tellers are 23 years old which is interesting. We are all pretty different too. Our head teller is from Montana and has 2 kids, and our teller that works the drive-thru is a Wilmington native and has been working there for 2 years. Our Money Manager doesn't work at our branch all the time, but travels to the various surrounding branches, wherever she's needed. My boss is really nice, and seems very easy to talk to. Everyone has been extremely helpful and hopefully after this week I will be able to help out more. I leave for training this afternoon in Myrtle Beach and will be there all week. I would be more excited if I weren't going alone, but it will be alright. I'll finally have time to finish Sense & Sensibility and will probably be dog-tired everyday once I get off at 5pm anyway.
As far as what I will be doing it varies from person to person obviously. I'll be able to process everything from withdrawals to deposits to loan payments, etc. There's much more to banking than I thought, but I'm finding it pretty interesting. At training I'll learn about The Bank Secrecy Act (top-secret info that I've signed my life away for...I can't even tell you guys about--I'm sure Kate, you can relate) and all the many regulations I have to follow as a process transactions. Oh, and of course I'll learn how to handle potential robberies. It's not Iraq, but I still have to be careful.
Well, I guess that's pretty much it. I'll post about training sometime next week.
Oh, and FYI Kate: Cardinal Red, Scrambled, and Shaken.

britty what's your new job like?? what was the training you got?? i know you said you'd call me, ive not checked my phone for messages, but ive not been recieving calls from some people and am from others...i think it depends on where i stand in my god forsaken house, if i can get calls or not. so i dont know if you called, moral of that long explanation. i'll check though. hahaha i hope its all going well, from your IM aways, it sounds like you're super stoked to be working in a real job. sweeeeet
lala, can't believe the wambach news still! but beyond that, we're still winning the GOLD! how's you're training and job?? what's it like, what do you do, who do you talk to? do you think you'll like it? ok lets see, what else can i ask? whats you're favorite color, hardboiled or scrambled, shaken or stirred? hahahaa sorry, its late, i'm punchie...if that's even how you spell it.
crot. MINE. hows the arm shaping up? i talked to you like a couple days ago, but it was rushed, i'm sorry...hope you wont hate me forever b/c of that. hahaha i love you. what was it again that you and the madre were cooking when i called and you said it wasnt' working out so well? hahaha
oh man. my fams here...my gpas from SC and my bro and sis in law. its good to have a crowded house. its wonderful to have them here, minus the fact that my father dislikes having too much family around for too long. so we get back from dinner or finish it here at the house and he disappears. we all go out on the porch and talk and laugh and he's inside laying down or watching tv. its better that way though, we all have more fun when he's not around b/c he doesnt have our since of humor and he's such a northerner. hahaha gah! i leave for VT to visit chris and meet all his fam and friends this upcoming friday. i'm beside myself excited. weve not seen each other for 2 months. its been a little rough. or more than rough. i can't imagine what it will be like when he's deployed in january...i'll be a mess...i'll need you girls to keep me sane.
we need another phone pow wow like the one we had back in february. of course itd be better to just meet in DC, but everyone is starting new jobs or new positions, yall will start getting busier and i'm going to start school in a month. blah. we'll figure something out!
anywaays, must get to sleep. all my love, loves. :)
happy sunday

Finally!
Okay, so I know I've shared my good news with many of you, but I thought I would put it in the blog to make it official.
I GOT A JOB! It seems like it's been forever, even though I know it hasn't. I will be a teller at Carolina First Bank. They have been checking my references today, and hopefully I will hear from them very soon. I'm really excited. My boss seems really nice and very supportive, and the company as a whole seems like it will be a good fit. There's room for promotion, a tuition reimbursement plan, health/dental benefits, etc. I'm eager to get started!
Hope everyone is doing well! Have good 4th of July weekends!
